Aims of the
module:
To provide Chiropractic students in their first
year of study with that knowledge of the cells and tissues of the human body to
enable them to understand the cellular and histological basis of health,
disease and tissue repair.
To provide Chiropractic students in their first
year of study with knowledge of embryology and postnatal development to allow
them to appreciate the developmental basis of normal structure and function, to
understand actions of teratogens, to appreciate how congenital malformations
occur and to understand how different stages of life (including ageing and
death) impact upon patient behaviour and clinical practice
Time commitment
(academic session 2009/10):
approximately
3 hours teaching per week (over 26 weeks)

hours for students 1 hour per week (over 26 weeks)
preparation
in advance of teaching sessions
preparation
of draft assessments and marking
attendance
at Exam Committees and staff-development sessions (approximately 20 hours
in the year)
