The Schola
Chiropractica Barcelona (SCB) will open its doors in October 2009 in
Barcelona for the
education and training of chiropractors. The college will provide a supportive and challenging learning
environment for an international student community (programme delivered first two years in Spanish and English, and the remaining three years in English). The SCB has strong
links with the chiropractic community in
Spain,
Europe and overseas and will apply to the European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE)
for accreditation. It has established
strong academic links with local universities and will rely on a number of both
local and international teachers to deliver a five-year programme of study. The programme is divided into an
undergraduate cycle (3 years) and a postgraduate cycle (2 years), the latter
will be delivered in collaboration with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, one of
the top universities in
Spain. The college aims to become an educational
leader in the provision of chiropractic education in the world and to play a
key role in the recognition and regulation of chiropractic in
Spain where, at present, there is only one other
chiropractic college (located in
Madrid).
